A Day in the Life of an EYFS child
Our Nursery accepts children from 3 years old with wrap-around care (breakfast and after school club). We provide various learning opportunities that are planned specifically to encourage and progress children’s learning and development within the seven areas of the EYFS curriculum.
Each morning the children are greeted by their nursery worker/person, where they will place their belongings on their pegs and start their day. We have group time where we say hello to each other and change our calendar, we will then have small and large group activities throughout the day where we will have those inputs of phonics and maths, followed by a healthy snack as well as outdoor and indoor child – led activities.
Our room is specifically laid out to help children progress in all areas and able to make choices and be independent, our activities enable children to learn the skills: socially, physically, emotionally and mentally to be able to achieve and flourish.
We explore a range of topics throughout the year, which encourage our children to experiment and explore different opportunities. Those topics range from transport to under the sea, giving them the tools to extend their interests, while also incorporating core books throughout, we provide a wide range of literature and promote reading for pleasure. In Nursery we read to our children multiple times a day.
We aim to prepare our children for school by promoting independence and the skills they need to get the best start in school life.
We are big believers in promoting communication and language.
